10-09-10 GREAT Fish Day!

Wow! What an outstanding day on the water today. Made a run to the bay area lakes today with my great fishing buddy Richard and Sofie the fishin' dog.

We arrived at 8 sharp when the gates opened. After a quick boat inspection, we were on the water and fishin' by 8:20. Love the way the boat starts EVERY Time. Yamaha rules. After a short cruise to our starting hole, i nail a smaller 1-1/2 lb fish on a topwater (Heddon Tiny Torpedo in shad color) after a couple casts. Next cast to same area, I pop another one about 2lbs. Richard gets one on the dropshot - a nice one about 4 to 5lbs and breaks off at the boat. We continue down our money bank and fish the weed edges. I rig up a weedless frog to get into the weeds deeper. A cast to the honey hole rock...bang a bite and a miss. Richard hooks up again. Breaks water, breaks off. I am back and forth with the frog in weeds, tiny torpedo in open water. No more blow ups. Brush hog makes an appearance in watermelon. Bite, but a miss.

Start to graph some... Richard hooks up and breaks off a nice 3-4 lber close to boat. Deeper water off point, I hook up. 4lbs. Nice. Photo and release. Move to weed lines and drift slow... we get 4 total on that pattern, 6lbs, 5lbs, 4lbs, 3lbs.

All in all, a great day. Pictured: My 6lb fish, Richard's 5lb fish.
